Affective Matter

Thinking with and through skin, scent, site and sound.

This installation exhibits a particular state of privacy, and my experience becoming acquainted with it. I have observed, collected and contained detritus-matter from my habitat; dust, grime and liquid that contained bacteria from my body. This bacterium is still alive even after it detaches from me, it feeds the pockets of mould and fluff that cultivate in and around my house. They become extensions of me.

Vessels that contain me, living stuff that was and is me; mutating, solidifying and sweating.

Even in this contained form I feel these substances, I viscerally experience their love, grief, comfort, fear and abjection.
