comfort-zones

Malleable recognisable everyday materials that twist and morph into bodies in an attempt to feel psychological safety.

This project emerged from living in isolation during lutruwita/Tasmania’s brief, but intense lockdown.

They embody the body, the blanket that comforts our bodies, the comfort that wraps the body, comfort that embodies the fabrics; desiring to merge together and carrying an uncertainty in whether the fabrics comfort us, or we them. However, they are scenarios do not quite resonate comfort, rather an ambiguous persistence to obtain it.

Are we the fabric? Are the blankets a body or the other way around? Or somewhere in between? This (ongoing) body of work fluctuates between these perspectives, though not ever solidifying in any clear position.
